About Us

Haddington is a Scottish town, rich in history and cultural heritage, hidden away just 20 miles east of Edinburgh. It has been the birthplace of Kings, it has been fought over and it has been the backdrop to witch craft and the supernatural.  Once of great strategic importance during the Medieval, it now nestles sleepily amid the rich farmland of East Lothian.

Unbeknown to many visitors and even some long-term residents, Haddington wasn’t always the small market town that it appears today; it was once the fourth largest city in Medieval Scotland and a strategic jewel desperately fought over between factions and countries.  Realizing that much of its historical inheritance was hidden away and forgotten by most, eclipsed by the tourist hype of other cities, we at Hidden Haddington decided to try and do something about this.

That is why we at Hidden Haddington aim to help raise awareness, to help preserve the spirit and history of Haddington and its surroundings via blogs and selling photography and art worldwide.

For various reasons Haddington has largely remained hidden away with its tourism and participation in popular culture being eclipsed by its near neighbors Edinburgh and North Berwick.  That is why we hope by showcasing the history, culture and hidden stories that have emerged over the centuries around Haddington will to help raise awareness of its cultural heritage both with the local community and world wide. So we hope you enjoy Haddington as much as we do!
